Get Your Hands Off My Guns You Dirty $! Ape!!!*
Charlton Heston has passed away this week.
Among his many achievements, Mr. Heston has probably the largest amount of quotable lines from movies of any actor in film history, all delievered in that inimitable voice. All right, several people, notably the late Phil Hartman, do or did an impersonation of Heston. I even occupied a telemarketer for nearly a full 5 minutes with mine. Still, those lines...
"Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!" - Planet of the Apes
"It's made of people!" - Soylent Green
"Oh, my G-d!" - Earthquake
"It's genuine 160-proof old Anglo-Saxon baby." - The Omega Man
"What the hell does he want to photograph? We don't have any bodies yet!" - Airport 1975
"It's a mad house! A mad house!" - Planet of the Apes
"You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! G-d damn you all to hell!" - Planet of the Apes, yet again
"Yeah." - The Greatest Show on Earth
And on the serious side, who can forget:
"The Lord of Hosts will do battle for us. Behold his mighty hand. " - The Ten Commandments
He will be missed.
*I believe the title of this post is a quote from his interview with Michael Moore.
