Oasis, Who?
Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher had a few things to say on the multi-bajillion pound transfer offer Manchester City has made for Kaka (of AC Milan). Kaka, who doesn't play at all like his namesake1, is considered one of the best footballers in the world, and Man City has made it clear in no uncertain terms that they want him. By "no uncertain terms" I mean $150 million U.S. dollars.
Gallagher was cheesed about criticism of the deal. In particular, he felt compelled2 to address Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's comments.
"Bring it on, I say. F**k morals. F**k Arsene Wenger and his socialist football nonsense." (asterisks by Goal.com - I would have used Wingdings where one of the Gallaghers is concered.)
What Gallagher is barming on about is Wenger's complaint that Manchester City's new Abu Dhabi-based owners are flinging mountains of cash about in a way that will force clubs to take even greater financial risks than before, overpricing players, and endangering the clubs.
What's hilarious is Gallagher's lack of economics acumen, since Wenger (who actually has an economics degree) is best known for his committment to the capitalist principle of making a profit in a business, which Arsenal are currently doing. Gallagher's p***ed because he's happy to see City's new owners spend their cash with all the caution of stoned rock stars.
That and Gallagher's obviously longing for a little attention these days, given that Oasis have done next to nothing worth writing about in ages.
Oh, the Kaka deal fell through, by the way. The player said something about money not being everything. Charming, that.
1 Yes, that was a poopy joke.
2 I say compelled because I can't recall a moment where either of the Gallagher brothers have acted out of pure rationality. This includes the albums.
